未在北京发现新的新冠变异株
No new COVID-19 variants were found in Beijing weeks after China optimized its epidemic response. According to a study published on Feb 8 in the journal Lancet, researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control sequenced 413 new samples obtained in Beijing from November 14 to December 20, including 350 local cases and 63 imported ones. They found that the spread of Omicron variants BF.7 and BA.5.2, has been dominant in the current outbreak since November 14 in Beijing, accounting for 90% of local cases, and there is no evidence that new variants emerged. The dynamic of COVID-19 variants in Beijing can be considered a snapshot of the situation in China.

ISPO Beijing 2023, the leading multi-segment sports exhibition in Asia, is ongoing in China National Convention Center and will run until February 12. The World Digital Education Conference will be held in Beijing online and offline from February 13 to 14. Focusing on digital education transformation, development and application of digital learning resources and other fields, the conference includes an opening ceremony, main forums, parallel forums and supporting activities. Representatives from over 130 countries and regions have registered to participate so far.

4 major studies led by Beijing Tiantan Hospital were presented at the ongoing International Stroke Conference 2023 held in the USA. Late-breaking in 24 clinical trials and subgroup analyses from the world's top research teams were announced in the conference, 6 of which are from China. The conference includes 149 keynote sessions, 69 special speeches and clinical research sessions on 7 different topics.

京城消费潜力加速释放
Major shopping centers in Beijing have embraced the increase in number of customers and sales since January, with some even outperforming the same period in 2019. According to the municipal commerce bureau, the total number of customers in Beijing's 60 major shopping areas reached over 202 million from January 1 to February 7. Beijing will accelerate the construction of new shopping centers and renovate several existing shopping areas this year to offer customers an even better shopping experience.

北京发起“春归计划”
多家房企承诺为新市民提供租房优惠
Beijing launched a subsidized housing program recently, aimed at reducing the financial burden on migrant workers returning to the capital to take up jobs after the Spring Festival holiday. Coordinated by the Beijing Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Beijing’s Real Estate Agency Association and 52 housing agencies, the program will provide 530,000 accommodations to meet the needs of various groups. All properties will be verified and supervised on a rent management and service platform. Participating enterprises have agreed not to increase rent during lease terms and some will offer deposit-free accommodation, allow rents to be paid monthly instead of once every 3 or 6 months in advance, and reduce the amount of commission they charge.
为保障春节后返京工作人员住房租赁需求，北京房地产中介行业协会依托惠民租房服务平台，开展”惠民租房在行动之春归计划”专项服务，北京市住建委等指导行业协会组织多家企业针对不同租房需求群体，提供适配房源53万套（间、床）房源覆盖不同人群需求。参与企业承诺，在活动期间不上涨服务费和租金，并推出系列优惠措施，如免押金、月付租金、租金和佣金打折等。此次活动同时在惠民租房服务平台开设线上留言板，依托行业调解组织、律师协会及时调解活动中产生的矛盾纠纷，及时解决租房过程中的问题。
朝阳区26家餐厅入选年度《黑珍珠餐厅指南》
The 2023 Black Pearl Restaurant Guide by Meituan, an e-commerce dining platform, was unveiled in Beijing’s Chaoyang District. 304 restaurants in China are listed in the guide, 38 of which are from Beijing and 26 are located in Chaoyang District. The guide was launched in 2018 as a dining reference, and has been published for 6 consecutive years.
“2023黑珍珠餐厅指南”近日在朝阳区举办了发布仪式，今年全国共有304家餐厅上榜，北京入选38家，位于朝阳区的有26家。“黑珍珠榜单”被称为“中国人自己的餐饮打卡指南”，今年是第六年连续发布。
西班牙伊比利亚火腿在京开启中国推介之旅
An event promoting Iberian ham in China was launched in Beijing on Feb 9. This month, many promotion activities will be held in major cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and some culinary training courses related to the ham will take place. According to China Customs, Spain became the largest exporter of pork products to China again in 2022.

副中心将新添一座全民健身中心，设四大场馆
Located in Beijing's Sub-center, Lucheng fitness center is expected to open to the public this year. Upon completion, it will serve nearly 50,000 people daily. Covering an area of 48,000 square meters, the center will have 4 indoor stadiums for fitness, basketball, swimming and skating, and a 10,000 square-meter outdoor sports venue. The basketball venue can also be converted into an exhibition hall for culture activities.
日前，位于城市副中心的潞城全民健身中心预计将于年内完工亮相。潞城全民健身中心总建筑面积约4.8万平方米。规划建设有全民健身馆、篮球馆、游泳滑冰馆、网球馆四大室内场馆及约1万平方米的室外运动场地。不仅可以运动健身，高度达21米的超高篮球馆还能被改造为小型的发布厅、展厅，作为文化交流场所。健身中心建成后，可满足约5万人的日常健身需求。
