I climb atop the eastern rock,
The deep blue ocean to behold.
So steep the island hills erect,
And water swells immense and cold.
Millions of trees clump thick and dense,
And myriad grasses thrive and grow.
Sough across heaven the autumn winds,
With huge waves surging high and low.
It seems that springing from the seas,
Rises the moon and sets the sun;
It seems that springing from the deep,
The glittering constellations run.
Well for the fortune that I’m blessed,
And this song has my thoughts expressed.
解析
曹操(155-220)，字孟德，沛国谯县人，东汉末年军事家、政治家、诗人。他以杰出的军事才能，平定北方群雄，促进祖国统一。其诗歌作品沉雄质朴，慷慨悲凉，奠定了建安文学的基调，虽然作品不多，但在中国文学史上占有重要地位。
曹操在碣石山登高望眺，通过浪漫的想象，勾勒出的大海吞吐日月、包蕴万象的壮丽景观，表达了诗人胸怀天下的进取精神。
黄福海，上海翻译家协会常务理事、上海诗词学会理事、上海市作家协会会员。毕业于复旦大学英美文学专业，曾留学英国，主攻英国诗歌。从事英语格律诗及中国古典诗歌的独立翻译与研究，创作并发表旧体诗词、现代格律体新诗，发表有关中国古典诗歌及汉诗英译的论文十多篇。
